Art Spotlight 1 - Kirsty Mitchell
I think that I'm going to occasionally post about artists that I like/who have impacted me on here.
One of my favorite artists currently is Kirsty Mitchell, who describes herself as an "artist with a camera." Her whimsical approach to art inspired some of my own projects, as I love blending the real with the unreal. She creates scenes that are fantastical and beautiful. The photos often look photoshopped and otherworldly. However, they are actual photographs and Mitchell spends months preparing the costumes and back drops for each individual photo.
Her goal is to make art that urges people to imagine their own fairytales for the characters she portrays. I love how she approaches and changes the fairytales she's grown up with. Her work all started when she lost her mom, and it has grown from there.
